About

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was a British author and physician best known as the creator of Sherlock Holmes. Born in Edinburgh, he studied medicine but found his true passion in writing. His detective stories, beginning with A Study in Scarlet (1887), revolutionized the genre and introduced one of fiction’s most enduring characters.

In addition to Holmes, Doyle wrote historical novels, science fiction, and works on spiritualism, which he championed later in life. Knighted in 1902, he remains a literary icon whose influence extends far beyond the detective stories he’s most famous for.
